This 6-week course combines my most popular writing classes into one writing experience!  I will read a non-fiction book about animals, amphibians, bats or sharks. On Day 1, we will make a list of 5 things that we learn about the animal(s) we read about. On Day 2, we will review our list and begin to write a short story about animals. On Day 3-6, continue to write and edit our short story. My job is to coach your learner through putting their idea into a manageable sentence. We will then work through writing the sentence together, sounding out words as we go. High frequency words will be covered as part of the writing process. We will also cover; listening, speaking, connecting to a story, sharing thoughts and putting them into a spoken sentence. The course is limited to 6 students to allow learners to share ideas with each other through conversations and to work through writing a sentence together. Learners should be able to write most letters of the alphabet and have some knowledge of letters and sounds. This class is appropriate for English Language Learners and is ideal for primary students who find writing difficult.
