This club will be a fun way to explore the primates of the world together! Study a different type of primate each week! Gain an overview of the distinctive characteristics of the following primate groups (depending on the week(s) joined): great apes, lesser apes, new world and old world monkeys, and prosimians. Learn about lemurs, monkeys, and apes through discussion, photos, videos, and real life stories. Find out about the scientists that study primates, learn the names for primates in local languages, listen to vocalizations, play games, and create primate mask crafts. This is an ongoing class and each class will be an independent lesson. I loves exploring areas of the world where primates live in the wild, and have actually been to most of the places that this class will cover. I have volunteered at various primate sanctuaries and have experience in providing primate enrichment, daily care, and conducting field work. Along with my photos, I have many personal stories to share such as volunteering with orangutans in Borneo, spotting a wild aye-aye in Madagascar, mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda, working at a Thailand gibbon sanctuary, following chimpanzees for the day, or listening to proboscis monkeys at sunset. PLEASE NOTE: Classes may run up to five minutes over the scheduled time depending on learner discussion and questions. Each week will be independent of each other, and learners may join at any time. 教師專業知識和證書
I am offering this class because I love learning about primates, and am enthusiastic about sharing primatology with students. I have countless personal experiences with primates in the wild that I think will help to connect learners to the concepts of primate classification. I have a minor in Anthropology and took several primatology classes in college.
