In each live class session, we will learn a new song for the multiplication fact numbers that are challenging (the 3’s, 4’s, 6’s, 7’s, 8’s, and 9’s). I will teach the song first a few times by singing it as I play guitar. Students will join in and sing the song with me a few more times. Then students will try to sing the song independently. No student solos required. I will demonstrate how to use the songs to practice multiplication facts. We will practice solving multiplication facts. The live class session consists of (1) a discussion of strategies for solving a multiplication problem, (2) the introduction of a new memorization song and direct instruction on how to use the song to solve multiplication facts, (3) practice time for the song, (4) sharing memorization and use of the song in solving multiplication facts, and (5) a recap of the class session with instructions for homework and what to expect next time. Day 1 We will discuss ways to solve math facts for multiples of 3. Then we will listen to the melody for The 3’s song, the tune of “This Land is Your Land.” I will explain how to solve the math facts for multiples of 3 through the song, and I will model how to sing it. We will complete a few practice rounds of The 3’s song. We will share our level of memorization and practice solving math facts for multiples of 3. Day 2 We will discuss ways to solve math facts for multiples of 4. Then we will listen to the melody for The 4’s song, the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.” I will explain how to solve the math facts for multiples of 4 through the song, and I will model how to sing it. We will complete a few practice rounds of The 4’s song. We will share our level of memorization and practice solving math facts for multiples of 4. Day 3 We will discuss ways to solve math facts for multiples of 6. Then we will listen to the melody for The 6’s song, the tune of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” I will explain how to solve the math facts for multiples of 6 through the song, and I will model how to sing it. We will complete a few practice rounds of The 6’s song. We will share our level of memorization and practice solving math facts. Day 4 We will discuss ways to solve math facts for multiples of 7. Then we will listen to the melody for The 7’s song, the tune of “The Happy Birthday Song.” I will explain how to solve the math facts for multiples of 7 through the song, and I will model how to sing it. We will complete a few practice rounds of The 7’s song. We will share our level of memorization and practice solving math facts. Day 5 We will discuss ways to solve math facts for multiples of 8. Then we will listen to the melody for The 8’s song, the tune of “She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain.” I will explain how to solve the math facts for multiples of 8 through the song, and I will model how to sing it. We will complete a few practice rounds of The 8’s song. We will share our level of memorization and practice solving math facts for multiples of 8. Day 6 We will discuss ways to solve math facts for multiples of 9. Then we will listen to the melody for The 9’s song, the tune of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” I will explain how to solve the math facts for multiples of 9 through the song, and I will model how to sing it. We will complete a few practice rounds of The 9’s song. We will share our level of memorization and practice solving math facts for multiples of 9.
學習目標
Students will memorize number songs as a strategy for solving basic multiplication facts. For example, to solve 6 x 8, students will count by singing the song for the 6’s to the 8th multiple or by singing the song for the 8’s to the 6th multiple.

Hello! I teach history and elementary subjects, including K-5 mathematics, reading, writing, science, and social studies. I have taught 4th grade for several years. Before that, I taught 7th and 8th grade reading intervention, and I tutored community college peers in Elementary Spanish, Precalculus, and English composition.
I believe that everyone can learn, and learning happens when a learner makes a choice and effort to grow. Schools and teachers provide the support, resources, and environment to facilitate a learner’s growth.
I teach because I love learning. As a student who majored history, I was intrigued by stories of the past. I have recently started to love science fiction and stories of the future. I also love to sing. :)
