In this weekly dance class we will learn beginner and intermediate Jazz dance and vocabulary, and how to move to different rhythms and beats! Jazz dance is upbeat and high-energy. Class will consist of stretching, conditioning, working on technique using balance and strength, across the floor combinations and more. We will end each class learning a short combination to refine the skills we worked on in class. This is a structured class that will follow a similar format every week: The first...
Students will have an understanding of Jazz dance technique and vocabulary and how to rhythmically move to the beats and sounds of music.
I am a professional Dancer and Dance Educator with 12+ years teaching and 20+ years as a performer. My training includes Classical Ballet (ABT), Jazz, Modern (Graham and Horoton techniques), Tap, and Musical Theatre; The Ailey School (NYC), Interlochen Center for the Arts, and The American Dance Festival. I have a BFA in Dance from the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University (Top 5 University Dance Program in the U.S.) and I love sharing my passion for dance with others. I can't wait to have you in class!
You should be in a space cleared from clutter and debris so it is safe to move about freely. Bring some water or a water bottle in case you get thirsty! Dance clothes that are comfortable to move in as well as dance shoes, socks or bare feet is fine.

Since Jazz dance is a physical activity, it is recommended there be adult supervision throughout class as there is always a level of risk and injury that can occur with any physical activity. Please have a space cleared of debris and clutter (minimum 4X4 ft square) so your learner can move about freely and safely. Having a water bottle or water near is important in case your learner gets thirsty during class (we will take a short, designated water break during class). Safety is my #1 priority as a teacher, so let's make sure your learner is in a safe environment so we can have fun dancing together!
