Welcome to Superpower School! In this 90 minute class, students will be taught to code using Minecraft and give themselves amazing superpowers! They will build themselves a really cool school, where they can experiment with their superpowers in a safe environment! Important: This class requires the Minecraft Education Edition software to be downloaded prior to joining (no other edition will work). We will give you login details for it once you sign up for the class. Class Agenda: Welcome and Introductions Overview of the topic - Superpowers Coding in Minecraft (start building Superpower Town) Coding in Minecraft (make the Superpower School) Coding in Minecraft (become the Incredible Hulk) Coding in Minecraft (become Thor or Storm) Coding in Minecraft (become Flash) Share projects and wrap up Teaching Methodology: Our approach is project-based. We strongly believe that engaged, happy students are the best learners. Our projects have an end goal, and most are game based. We use coding to solve a problem. We have up to 6 student in this class, allowing the class to be interactive with lots of opportunities to ask questions and share knowledge. What you would need: - Minecraft Education Edition (no other edition will work. Login details for the education edition will be provided) - Zoom on a separate device (tablet or laptop/computer) Age Requirement: 7 to 12 No prior coding experience necessary. Minecraft playing experience would be helpful, but not absolutely necessary. We will not be joining a multiplayer world. The students will remain in their own world but there will be plenty of opportunities to "show and tell". This is a class where students are expected to come prepared to learn and not just play in Minecraft.

Use loops and conditionals (IF/THEN/ELSE)
Understand variables (number, Boolean, string)
Create and use functions
Use all of the above to make games and build structures

We are a London (England) based team of engineers, coders and developers who specialise in hands on learning. Our approach is project based. We don't teach coding for the sake of coding. We engage the children in coding projects that have a goal that is aligned to the students' interests. We may be new to Outschool, but we are 6 years old and have spent over 6000 hours teaching online since March 2020. We have a 5-star rating on Google and Facebook!
All our instructors have enhanced background checks on an annual basis, and have paediatric first aid certificates that are renewed every 3 years. We are also registered with the information commissioner's office and are general data protection regulation (GDPR) compliant (which means all your personal data is safe when you book with us, and is never shared with anyone else).
