Important Note:  CEFR:  all levels

In this mindful art studio class, Learner will focus on "process art with the journey being more relevant than the experience of producing a final art piece."  It also emphasizes sensory experiences bringing the learner to the present moment.  Learner will:
1. Be introduced to modern artists from around the world for whom music was a deep source of inspiration:  Wassily Kandinsky & Piet Mondrian; and when/if repeating the class, Georgia O'Keeffe & Gerhard Richter.
2. Listen to an inspiring composition:  Claude Debussy's Clair de Lune; and when/if repeating the class, Erik Satie's adagio, Three Gymnopédies:  Gymnopédie No. 1.  In both classes Learner will experience immersing in the process of creative self-expression through musical inspiration (as did the above mentioned artists), that is both enjoyable and relaxing.  
In this part of the class, Learner is guided to be mindfully present with the music and the feelings or images that arise from listening deeply:  Learner listens to the music and interprets the feelings that arise, first in lines, then shapes, followed by colors, and finally draws a piece bringing those experiences together in a moment of free artistic expression.  
3. Summarize the experience with an "artist statement".  
Teaching style is kind, inclusive, emphasizing enthusiasm for the arts, with time and space to foster relaxation, being mindful in the present moment. 
For a sense of community engagement, gauging Learner's interest level, and to be able to adjust accordingly, open mics and videos are required in class.  
This class is ideal for the kid who loves music and visual arts and/or just wants a moment to relax feeling the joy and freedom of being a creator.  
Class size is kept small to allow ample time for learner's comments or questions.  
Younger learners may benefit from parents offering their support as needed.  
Depending on the learner's own tempo during this class of "process art", the student may need or enjoy additional time.  In that case, parents are encouraged to allow for some free time after class so learner may complete their piece without having to rush, enjoying the experience of making art as a journey that is relaxing and mindfully engaging.  
No previous experience is required. 
Class may be repeated as new material will be made available to repeat students.

Learner will need a quiet space free from noises and distractions, as well as a work surface such as a desk, table or other working platform, and 4 pieces of drawing/painting paper with coloring pencils, crayons, oil pastels, or other media of preference.
