Mindfulness and meditation invites a sense of calm in this busy world. Join 200 hr certified yoga teacher, Lisa Wixted, whose niche and additional certification is Kids Yoga, as we explore what is mindfulness. Students will engage in a variety of easy and fun breathing techniques to calm the body and mind while balancing emotions. Breaths are explained and demonstrated in various steps of progression. Classes range from 10-16 minutes. These mindful and meditative techniques can create a positive outlook for your entire life!

Discover how you can connect in mindfulness as you use your hands to direct yourself in intentional breathing exercises.

Explore how mindfulness in breathing calms the body and mind, reduces anxiety and stress, and minimizes nervousness. Engage in deep breaths, 3-part breath, and rocket breath.

Meditation: Tense & Release
Calm the body and mind as you release tension in the body to help you learn to stay in stillness longer. Engage in Progressive Muscle Release where you tighten and release specific areas of the body to invite greater release before you settle into a quiet space.

Mindful Directive Breath
Explore a Kundalini Directive Breath as you consciously direct the breath to flow in and out the body. Invite breath awareness, decreased stress, calm, and mindfulness. This practice can be done lying down, seated on a blanket, or seated on a chair.

Mindfulness and meditation is incorporated in all of my yoga classes. I offer fun, energizing, creative, and calming breaths specifically designed for kids to help them connect to their bodies and breath while creating a sense of mindfulness. I have taught Kids Yoga, Family Yoga, and Baby Toddler Me Yoga since 2012. I have a Masters in Education with a certification in K-6th, biology, and earth science. I have a Bachelors of Science in Biology with an Environmental Studies minor. I am a former public school teacher of 5 yrs and homeschool teacher of 10 yrs. I am a 200 hr certified Yoga Teacher with additional certifications in Kids Yoga, Mommy Me Yoga, and Prenatal Yoga. I've taught Kids Yoga with Parks & Recreation, Camp Kum-Ba-Yah summer camp and after-school program, and STEM camps. I taught weekly in-person and online Kids Yoga at Governors Charter Academy for 4 yrs. Connecting with kids in yoga and mindfulness is my niche and passion!
