Students will learn how to use the mind mapping technique to brainstorm ideas for any type of essay or writing assignment in a fun and interactive classroom environment. The class is structured to enable students to access class content at time convenient to them. There will be exercises available to practice mind mapping. During the first 5 minutes of class, the teacher will build a rapport with students and briefly discuss the course material. The next 25 minutes of class will be dedicated to discussing what a mind map is, how to create one, and how to choose which ideas to select. The next 5-10 minutes will allow students to create their own mind maps. The final 5-10 minutes of class will be dedicated to reviewing and wrapping up the lesson. There will also be a template provided for future use. A further description and outline of the class is provided below: The class: This mind mapping class will review the concept of brainstorming, which is meant to develop ideas for an essay. The class will also review what mind mapping is, which is a brainstorming technique to create ideas for an essay. During the class, there will be a PowerPoint presentation describing the purpose of brainstorming, the mind mapping technique, an exercise to practice mind mapping, and a template attached to be bale to use for future essays.

Students will learn the essential concepts of how to effectively use one of the most widely used brainstorming techniques, mind mapping. The class will educate students how to create and document ideas for an essay. In doing so, students will learn how to create a framework of what their main ideas will be for an essay, therefore creating a framework of what their essay will look like.
