How has military camouflage evolved through the years? From the dawn of time, humans have found ways to conceal themselves. It starts with nature, where many animals find ways to hide from predators thanks to camouflage. But as Marek Strandberg from NATO's Science and Technology Organisation says, at first it was more about the smell: "In human history, we can imagine that the first camouflage was not about the colour, but about the smell to cover yourself with the mud to reach some prey...
Students will learn about early attempts to use camouflage. Students will learn about camouflage methods in WWI and WWII.
I have been a Military History enthusiast for the past 40 years. From collecting (and reading) books, military scale models, table-top wargaming, role playing games, to studying and writing - this exciting topic has thoroughly captured my imagination. I presently hold a M.A. in Military History from American Military University and have taught a variety of History courses which include a great deal of Military History.
