每週 1-2 小時. Students will receive practice materials to support each week's concepts, as well as STEM integrated activities to enhance STEM awareness and skills.評估
Students will be able to, at the end of each unit, complete a digital break out room and complete a quiz for each topic to support academic mastery. Scores of quizzes will be sent to families after each assessment is completed. Students will also receive a final project to using engineering practices and design their own process to demonstrate mastery.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。

In this course, students will learn about physics concepts involving force and motion, including electromagnets and the Earth's orbitational force related to Next Generation Science Standards for Middle Level (MS-PS2). The format of each week will be as follows: -Video: Students will watch a recorded video on each week's topics, allowing them to learn new concepts. Students will be provided a notetaker to allow them to keep notes from each week's video. -Activity: Each week, students will get an activity to complete, which will vary based on each topic (reading passage, question/answer, fill in diagrams, science labs, etc.). Students will receive a STEM integrated activity each week to support learning and practice STEM skills. Students will have access to Khan Academy for additional resources that will be assigned as we cover content for additional enrichment -Discussion Board: Students will answer daily questions in the classroom that will allow for students to demonstrate mastery of the content learned each week (4-5 questions per week). -Break Out Edu: Students will complete a break out room through Breakout Edu at the end of each unit through a link, as well as given access to sign up for ease of access to each topic's game and to keep record of progress. Students may help each other in the discussion board to solve clues by replying to the discussion thread with the code for each break out room. (Please note this is a website that is free to students where they will click on a link every single unit and they will participate in the game. signing up on the website is optional because it gives you direct access to maintain your scores, but it’s not required. Please also note that these are not break out rooms through zoom as this is a flex class, so there are no asynchronous meetings.) -Kahoot: Each week students will be provided a direct link to a Kahoot quiz at the end of each unit -Assessment: At the end of each unit, students will be given an assessment via Google Forms to complete to demonstrate mastery of the concepts. Scores will be released immediately for review. -Final Project: In the final week, students will have an opportunity to use scientific engineering to model forces at work without contact through the scientific method. The topics per week are as follows: Week 1- Newton's Laws and examples in the real world Week 2- Balanced and unbalanced forces (Newton's 1st Law) Week 3- The Earth and other celestial bodies and their orbit (Newton's 2nd Law) Week 4- Motion and points of reference Week 5- Electric and magnetic forces (electromagnets, electric motors, and generators) Week 6- Gravitational forces and distance in space Week 7- Forces at a distance Week 8- Project Week- STEM final project for force and motion In addition, students who sign up for this class will be given digital access to Super Science Magazine through a class code (with publisher permission). This code will be valid during the course (as code changes, new one will be shared in the classroom).
學習目標
Students will learn about force and motion in relationship to Newton's Laws and celestial bodies. Students will gain an understanding of electric forces, magnetic forces, and gravitational forces and their impact on objects including how mass can impact forces. Students will be challenged with scientific engineering practices throughout the course to develop their STEM awareness

Please review course information to ensure students may review key concepts with instructor. Students will learn about forces in relationship to objects on Earth and celestial bodies (we will only discuss celestial bodies in relationship to orbit and gravity, not life forces on other planets). Students will also be given opportunities for laboratory experiments that may require adult supervision. Please review labs and STEM activities each week for safety suggestions.
Please note standards associated with this course come from Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and are designed for a full middle school experience.
Also, please know that Kahoot, Superscience, and Khan Academy will not require subscriptions and all links will be made available in the classroom for access.
供應清單
Handouts will be provided before each session on the discussion board as an attachment and as a Google Doc link for digital access if preferred. Notetakers will be provided and are encouraged to be printed prior to session so students can fill in as we go. Answer Keys will be provided on Fridays. Supplemental materials will also be provided so students can review between sessions. Videos will be provided to all participants of each session.

I am an elementary and middle school math and science teacher, and have taught middle school science for 8 years from 6-8th grade. I am licensed as a science teacher from 6-12 grade, with a Masters in Science Education. I like making learning relate to real world experiences so students can connect to material easier than standard memorization. I review in a flow pattern that starts with basic information and expands into complex information to assist students with retention.
