****Please read each book's description so that you can decide if you want your child to read the book.  You can do an internet search for each book's summary.  Kirkus Reviews is a good website, and so is Common Sense Media.****


Welcome to the Middle Grades Book Club!   

In our weekly book club, your child will read and discuss different types of fiction novels and sometimes complete book-related activities.

      Besides building a love of reading, book clubs have many benefits:
      
    • Children read books they might not normally read.
    • The book discussions promote deep thinking about a book.
    • Kids get useful practice with forming opinions and using the text to help support their
       thinking.
    • Books open a child’s world to new ideas, vocabulary, cultures, and activities.
    • They allow kids to experience all sorts of adventures.
    •  Book clubs help to build comprehension skills and literary analysis skills such as
analyzing plot, themes, characters, and setting.

 Your child may join our book club at any time because we start a new book about every 3 or 4 weeks.  If your child joins after we have started a new book, we will review the previous chapters from the previous  meeting or meetings.



****All learners must be enrolled in the club to be fair to the other enrolled learners.****
