Well, when I was thinking of strange history topics, medieval medicine definitely came to mind. Lice ale, anyone? Bloodletting, the four humours, and urine tasting are just some of the many medical techniques we’ll talk about in this class. Bizarre as it may sound, they actually did quite a few things right and have helped us develop treatments today using their ideas or concepts! As gross as some of these topics are, I think it’s a really fun class and it was one of my favorite ever to research! Class structure is a meet and greet time, then a PowerPoint class, followed by question and answer time. Class time is typically an hour but may be longer depending on the amount of questions and the length of the answer required but you are free to leave any time you need to!
學習目標
The difference between medieval medicine and modern. We’ll look into some of the wilder attempts at curing devastating diseases and how some of it may have actually worked, and also how we have taken their concepts and used some in medicine today.
其他詳情
父母的引導和規範
Some gross and disturbing content like surgeon-barbers, bloodletting, and leeches. I do not go into too much detail on some of the nastier sections. Strangely, a lot of kids love this stuff!

來源
I utilize many books and websites to cross reference when researching my topics. This class in particular I read books Medieval Medicine: A Reader by Faith Wallace and Medieval Medicine: The Art of Healing Head to Toe by Luke E. Demaitre. Websites I often use are history.com, Smithsonian.com, and britannica.com.
