課堂經歷
This class will take learners through basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and real life problems to see how math is relivent to real life. While we will use basic operations we will also be tackling multi-step and multi operation real life word problems. Week 1: Get to know each other. Word problem temperature check to see what is most challanging to learners. Week 2: Breaking down word problems. How many questions are in this problem? Week Three: Practice with problems. Break into small groups or individually (learners choice) to solve a series of word problems. Regroup and discuss challenges and strategies for solving. Week 4: Create your own word problem adventure. Between weeks 3 and 4 learners will submit their own word problems for the class to slove. During week four we will break into small groups and tackle the problems with our new skills!

Learners will become more confident in their ablities to breakdown problems into manageable steps.

Occationally when students are creating problems or drawing pictures to help solve problems there may be comments or ideas shared that may differ from the views of others in the class. Please discuss how to handle these situations with your learner before class.
