M. C Escher achieved success later in his career, and had at that point already established a number of memorable phases. This course will take a broad look at the artist’s body of work, and will use visit thinking strategies to define the most iconic pieces. We will then focus on tessellations as a concept, and then as a practice, as we create our own inspired by Escher’s work, nature, and other patterns. Students will be able to identify and execute a tessellation, as we examine M. C. Escher’s body of work, nature, and other patterns around us. Participants will have a deeper understanding of the artist’s most iconic works, as well as biographical information.
