Students will learn to estimate, apply multiplication and division to real-world problem solving and to explain and defend their mathematical thinking and reasoning. They will also work with concepts of time and elapsed time. 
I have used Three-Act Tasks in my own math classroom for the past six years.

A printable page will be provided which students can use to do their thinking and problem-solving, but it's also fine to use their own piece of plain paper.
This class will take students through a Three-Act Task that turns math problem-solving on its head! Rather than being given problems to solve by the teacher, students will be given an intriguing, real-world scenario that they will use to ask their own questions that need solving. They will make a series of estimates, then problem solve their own questions,  and share their ideas and thinking with the class. To be successful at this task, students should already have an understanding of time (seconds and minutes) and how to use the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to solve problems.  The class will use pictures and a brief video. Resources will be shared with students via screen share and no outside accounts are required.
