課堂經歷
For centuries young artists have learned their craft by studying the masters that preceded them. In this class we will carry on the tradition. Each week learners will study a single great painting or sculptural masterpiece, the artist and related historical elements. We will recreate a drawing of the painting or sculpture and students will be free to finish their pieces in their own way. We will learn about the artist, their place in history, their use of the elements of art while recreating a version of the artwork. Printable PDF worksheets will be provided to reinforce the information detailed in the video lesson. We will also discuss whether or not the painting should be considered a masterpiece by engaging in a series of discussion questions that students will be asked to argue from two different points of view- that yes, it should be considered a masterpiece, and no-it should not be considered a masterpiece. Discussions will take place through asynchronous messaging in the online classroom. Lessons will be presented in an audio visual format via a Keynote/Powerpoint slide presentation and linked Youtube videos. Lessons will be a step-by-step follow along format. At the end of class students will be invited though not required to share their artwork with the class whether completed or not. Students will be asked to recall the things they found most interesting in each lesson, to share what they like most about their artwork with the class, and to give feedback to other students on their artwork as well. Students may use whatever supplies they have and are comfortable with. Suggestions will be provided as well as direction on how to use those supplies. At minimum students should have pencil, erasers, and paper- preferably a heavier weight paper such as cardstock. 教師專業知識和證書
I'm a professional artist, photographer, and author living in East Texas. I love to connect art with everything else in life—math, science, history, and language arts.
I've been homeschooling for 19 years and have taught children's art classes privately and through local afterschool programs. My photography and art lessons have been internationally published. I also wrote a book about photography!
As a home educator with an eclectic view on teaching methods (including classical education, the trivium, Charlotte Mason, the Socratic Method, unschooling, and child-directed learning), I see the power of making connections in everything we do. Art happens to be my favorite tool to use when guiding students in making connections as well.
