Class Schedule: Week of 1/20 - Expository Week of 1/27 - Persuasive Week of 2/3 - Narrative Week of 2/10 - Descriptive --Week of 2/17 **no classes** Week of 2/24 - Expository Week of 3/3 - Persuasive Week of 3/10 - Persuasive Week of 3/17 - Narrative Week of 3/24 - Narrative Week of 3/30 - Expository Week of 4/7 - Persuasive Class Structure: -Each class begins with welcoming students and an introduction to the day’s paragraph topic. Students will participate in a short discussion to activate prior knowledge and make personal connections to the material. -A focused mini-lesson will highlight key paragraph writing techniques, tailored to the specific type of paragraph we’re working on. Lessons will vary with activities like: analyzing example paragraphs, reading short stories or articles for inspiration or context, and other weeks will focus entirely on brainstorming and planning. -After reviewing key concepts, students will put their skills into practice by organizing their thoughts with graphic organizers or structured templates before drafting their own paragraphs. Some lessons, they will go straight to writing if enough is discussed. **They’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, receive real-time support, and share their work for constructive feedback.** -Each lesson wraps up with a review of key takeaways and practical tips for revising and strengthening their writing. By the end of class, students will leave with a completed or well-organized draft, gaining confidence and improving their writing skills in a supportive, interactive environment. Teaching Style: My teaching approach is interactive, encouraging participation and creativity in a supportive and inclusive environment. Lessons incorporate visual aids, collaborative discussions, and real-world examples to help students connect writing concepts to everyday use. **Students will need a Google Drive account and should be signed in before class begins. Most assignments will be shared via Google Docs, allowing me to provide real-time feedback and guidance during class. I will not keep any assignments after the class ends or after providing feedback, and no email addresses will be shared or stored.** This is a highly interactive class where learners will: -Engage in discussions to build critical thinking and brainstorming skills. -Analyze and evaluate example writing to understand effective writing techniques. -Practice writing and organizing their ideas into clear, detailed, and cohesive paragraphs. Outcome: -By the end of each class, students will leave with a solidly planned or fully written paragraph and an improved understanding of how to craft effective, detailed writing pieces.

Learners will need access to Google Docs for this class. Parents should ensure their child is logged into a Google Suite account prior to class. Learners will type their paragraphs in Google Docs and share the document with me for feedback. No personal information beyond the document is required.

This class requires no prior experience. Students should be able to write basic sentences, as we'll focus on building from that foundation to create organized, detailed paragraphs.
