In this 4-week, self-paced class, learners will explore 4 different marine animal adaptations through the creation and sharing of activity-based learning projects. Each week learners will be provided with text and video video-based content on the following organisms. Week 1: Sea Stars This week learners will explore the mechanisms of a sea star's hydrostatic skeleton by simulating it's grip with a turkey baster. Week 2: Jellyfish This week learners will explore the anatomy of a jellyfish stinging cell by creating a model. Week 3: Shark Scales This week learners will explore shark morphology and denticles by creating a model using egg shells. Week 4: Fish Floats This week learners will explore the adaptations of a fish swim bladder by creating a model. Each week includes an instructional video and activity demonstration, as well as, journal questions to be shared within the classroom.
