Let's speak Mandarin and have fun sharing! In Mandarin Show & Tell (中文展示与分享), young learners will build confidence in speaking Mandarin by sharing their favorite toys (玩具 wánjù), books (书 shū), or other personal items.  

This interactive, twice-a-week class encourages children to practice simple Mandarin phrases like “这是我的...” Zhè shì wǒ de… ("This is my...") while learning to express themselves and connect with their classmates.  

Each session focuses on helping children improve their listening and speaking skills in a supportive, immersive environment. With a focus on real-life communication, learners will feel more comfortable using Mandarin in everyday situations like saying “我喜欢...” Wǒ xǐhuān… ("I like…").  


★★ What Will Be Taught? ★★  

→ How to introduce themselves in Mandarin (e.g., “我叫…” Wǒ jiào… – "My name is...")  
→ Simple Mandarin phrases to describe personal items (e.g., “这是我的玩具。” Zhè shì wǒ de wánjù. – "This is my toy.")  
→ Basic question-and-answer interactions (e.g., “你喜欢什么？” Nǐ xǐhuān shénme? – "What do you like?")  
→ Vocabulary related to common items (toys, books, clothes, etc.)  
→ Cultural elements, such as polite phrases and greetings  
→ How to express preferences (e.g., “我最喜欢...” Wǒ zuì xǐhuān... – "My favorite is...")  
→ Describing colors and sizes (e.g., “红色的...” Hóngsè de... – "Red...")  
→ Talking about family members and pets (e.g., “这是我的狗。” Zhè shì wǒ de gǒu. – "This is my dog.")  
→ Sharing about hobbies or favorite activities (e.g., “我喜欢画画。” Wǒ xǐhuān huà huà. – "I like to draw.")  
→ Asking and answering simple questions about items (e.g., “这是什么？” Zhè shì shénme? – "What is this?")  


★★ How Is the Class Structured? ★★  

Before each week's class begins, the teacher will share the theme for that week.  

Each 20-minute session is designed to maximize interaction and speaking opportunities:  

→ Welcome & Greeting (5 minutes) – Interactive greetings in Mandarin to set a friendly tone.  
→ Show & Tell Time (10 minutes) – Each learner shares their favorite item, using simple Mandarin phrases to describe it.  
→ Q&A (5 minutes) – Learners ask and answer questions in Mandarin to practice conversational skills.

Show & Tell is a familiar and engaging format for young learners. By sharing personal items, children feel more comfortable speaking and practicing new language skills. This approach:

★★ Language of Instruction ★★  

This class will be taught primarily in Mandarin Chinese (中文) to create an immersive language learning experience. Learners will hear and use Mandarin throughout the session to build real-life communication skills. Occasional English assistance will be provided if learners need clarification or support, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and confident participating.  


★★ Interactive Elements to Keep Learners Engaged ★★  

Our teachers create a supportive and interactive environment where learners can:  

→ Practice introducing themselves and their items in Mandarin  
→ Ask and answer questions to encourage conversation  
→ Use props, visuals, and gestures to aid understanding  
→ Participate in fun language games and activities to reinforce vocabulary  

This class is a fun and engaging way for young learners to gain confidence in Mandarin speaking while making connections with their classmates!
