In this class, we will explore the world of Laura Ingalls Wilder through the adapted story "Summertime In The Big Woods". While we read, I'll ask questions and encourage students to participate in the activity through discussion and questions. I like to foster student thinking by providing question prompts beforehand that students can ask themselves or me while reading. After the story, we will all create a jar of infused honey together just like Laura's Ma may have made after Pa and the girls brought home all their honey.

*IMPORTANT* For this craft, if you choose to use a vanilla bean and remove the paste from inside the bean, parents may need to prepare the bean before class by slicing it open with a knife. Your child can then use a spoon to scrape out the paste from inside the bean.

-a small Mason jelly jar (oz size your choice) with lid -honey -spoon for mixing -vanilla bean paste Optional: -vanilla bean -vanillla extract -additional warming spices such as: cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, allspice, ect.
