I offer optional resources for "homework," designed to be enjoyable activities for families. These include Boom Cards, or digital flashcards and puzzles. These activities are for extra practice and you don't have to do them. You choose if you want to use them based on what you like and when you're free. For this class, I offer an informal assessment upon request. This assessment is a phoneme awareness checklist. We will take one class to review 26 phonemes (letters and letter pairs), including both individual letters and letter pairs. This helps ensure a comprehensive understanding of the sounds and their combinations. No formal letter grades or certificates of completion will be offered. Did you know that there are 26 letters in the English alphabet, but a total of 45 sounds in the English language? In this phonics class, we'll explore all of the sounds of the vowels from 'A' to 'Y'. No need to worry about starting late, you can enroll at any time and you won't be behind. Each lesson, we'll focus on one vowel sound, using flashcards and games. No materials are required for class, but the digital flashcards and games are optional for those who would like extra practice. As we move through each lesson, we'll focus on reading individual words with the target sounds. And for those who are up for a challenge, we'll also work on reading short sentences with the target sounds. 🎧 There are no materials required for class, but I highly suggest a pair of headphones. Listening is a big deal in phonics because we're doing two things: looking for letters and listening for their sounds. Headphones ensure good audio quality. 📌 Please note: Every week I offer Boom Cards (digital flashcards with images and audio). You will need to create a free account at www.boomlearning.com to play. These flashcards are a great resource, but they are completely optional. 📚✨ As a bonus, in the classroom's Welcome Post, I'm excited to offer you a review of five Boom Card flashcard sets. These resources, absolutely free, provide a comprehensive overview of the class and a thorough review of the sounds from letters A to Z.
