In this one time class, the children will learn all about turtles. I will start class by asking the children to share why they like turtles. This will be one of many opportunities for the children to socialize and practice turn taking throughout the class. I will use pictures and props throughout the class to show the life cycle of turtles and some different species of turtles. My pet turtle, "squirt" will make a guest appearance as we discuss the parts of a turtle. A turtles diet varies depending on whether they are pets, wild, or sea turtles. So we will discuss what wild and pet turtles eat as well as what "squirt" likes to eat. We will end class by learning` more fun facts and answering any questions the children my have.

I have been teaching for the last 27 years in a variety of settings. I have worked with children 3 to 12 years of age. I have created curriculum for 3-6 year old's, tutored, been a nanny, an assistant director, assistant teacher for early learners in the school district, and taught English (ESL) online. I have a BA in Early Childhood Education and a BA in Psychology. I love to find creative ways for children to learn and have fun! I believe children learn best through a variety of means including: repetition, writing, movement, creativity, socialization, fun, and a positive attitude. If I do not know the answer to a child's question, I will research it and let them know. Knowledge is a powerful tool that can create a spark for future learning and life adventures.
