I will help students create the sentences if they feel stuck trying to express their thoughts in Mandarin Chinese. :::::::::::::::::::::::::: Schedule :::::::::::::::::::::::::: Wk1 Apr. 4th - 8th // Nice to meet you! What is your name? Wk2 Apr. 11th -15th // Classroom expressions: What you will hear in lessons each time Wk3 Apr. 18th - 22nd // Exchanging greetings Wk4 Apr. 25th - 29nd // Survival expressions: How to learn and absorb more in the target language. Wk5 May. 2nd -6th // Let’s count! Wk6 May. 9th - 13th // How old are you? Wk7 May 16th - 20th // Let’s talk about family! Wk8 May 23rd - 27th // Let's talk about fruits and vegetables! Wk9 May 30th - June 1st // What color do you like? :::::::::::::::::::::::::: How is your class structured? :::::::::::::::::::::::::: PLEASE NOTE that this is a class for beginners. Students are encouraged to actively join the class activities while we are practicing speaking. This particular class is focused on interpersonal speaking skills. :::::::::::::::::::::::::: How will you teach? :::::::::::::::::::::::::: I will be a introducing a few verbs/phrases each meeting together with all possible responses. We will be speaking in Mandarin mostly, with less focus on writing. I wil mostly use images to prompt students to the topics. We'll spend the first 5 minutes of the class, greeting and getting to know everyone with Mandarin and English, as well as going over some key phrases we'll be learning to help any new students. We will spend about 15 minutes taking turns to ask and answer questions in Mandarin. The last 5 minutes will be spent with a wrap up activity to check on student understanding of what we've learned during the lesson. :::::::::::::::::::::::::: How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? :::::::::::::::::::::::::: We will be mostly speaking in Mandarin Chinese asking questions and answering those questions. :::::::::::::::::::::::::: Any required experience or knowledge learners need? :::::::::::::::::::::::::: None needed. The more you hear and speak the target language, the more you will learn.
