My private tutoring sessions are focused on helping students that are non-native English speakers converse with a native North American (US) speaker in a natural and friendly setting. I have taught over 2500 English classes online to over 700 students during my 2 1/2 years with VIPKid.  I am TESOL certified and have a Bachelor's degree Minor in English. I also have over 20 years of experience teaching children in a variety of different subjects. 

For this private lesson, I will provide conversation and pronunciation-focused teaching, as well as introduce new vocabulary and grammar as different topics are discussed. Popular areas of focus could include: pronunciation, vocabulary, writing, reading + comprehension, English conversation, phonics, and more. These lessons are a great way to promote free talk English discussions, practice active listening skills, develop memory, build comprehension and expand vocabulary. I use many different modalities to teach including props, flashcards, real-life examples, and simple games.

Parents are welcome to request topics, skills, and focus areas for their students. Classes can be geared to students of all levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced. I am also happy to provide homework help and exam preparation during these sessions for students who are taking English courses in school. Please note this 1-on-1 tutoring session is available for learners ages: 5-18 years old.

Upon enrollment, the first meeting will consist of getting to know your student with questions such as what their favorite things are, family/community topics, and discussing their interests.  (Example questions may include: What is your favorite food? What is your favorite activity outside of school?) This natural conversation will allow me to assess their conversational level and tailor future meetings to their ability. After the first session, meetings will include topics revolving around your student's personal interests, favorite subjects, or parent requests. Throughout our lesson, I will correct grammar, pronunciation and help students articulate themselves in a relaxed and positive way.
