In this class students will learn and remember the 50 States in the United States of America along with their abbreviations and their capitals.  I am currently teaching social studies this year and I have done this with my students, and they find it fun and informative. So I have decided to bring it to Outschool as well.  I will start by asking students how many states they know off the top of their head, which state they live in, which states border their home state, and which states they have traveled to.  Each student will be given adequate time to have a discussion about the state of their choosing (That may be the state they live in, state they have recently vacationed in, and/or a state they wish to visit).  There will be discussions, videos, and music all in this course.  This course will be learner directed by picking the state of their choosing for the class as well as current events going on in their state and states around the country.  All you need to bring to this class is yourself.  Remember to be respectful and listen to your classmates.  No prior knowledge is needed to succeed in this class we are all here to learn.
