In this one-time class we will take a closer look at the Indigenous Native groups of Alaska. Students will be introduced to the major different groups (Inupiat, Yupik, Aleuts, Athabaskans, Tlingit and Haida), where they live and similarities and differences among the groups. We will also briefly talk about how Alaska has only one reservation. The class will be mainly a lecture style with a Power Point presentation that includes information, pictures and map. I was born and raised in Alaska, and am Alaska Native and belong to the Tlingit Tribe. I have first hand knowledge and experience of the Alaska Native cultures. It is my desire to teach others about our enriching cultures here in Alaska.

There will be a brief moment where boarding schools are mentioned and how they have affected the Tlingit people. I will not go into the trauma, but briefly how it was hard on families and how it affected family histories, such as my own.
