Do you love mermaids and dancing? Join me as we learn some ballet moves and pretend we are under the sea! This is my most popular one-time class! Dancers will learn age-appropriate foundational ballet technique, mermaid-themed movements and play some fun dance games. No previous dancing experience is required. Please wear comfortable clothing and have a water bottle nearby during the class. Your child can dress up for the class if they like! This class is inclusive for all dancers. Please message me with any accommodations needed. If you liked this class, try one of my weekly ongoing classes: Fairytale Dance - Beginner Ballet - Unicorns, Mermaids, Princesses and More! Beginner Ballet Dance with Miss Jamie // CLASS STRUCTURE // We will start class with short introductions and your dancer can choose the color for their imaginary mermaid tail. Then, dancers can follow along as we do a warm up with ocean-themed stretches to prepare our bodies for dancing. Next, we will practice ballet positions, plies and footwork.. I will use nature imagery to help your child understand and connect with these positions. For the across the floor portion of the class, dancers will learn dynamic ballet movements and practice balancing as part of the “Mermaid Challenge.” This challenge also includes counting practice. Dancers will have the opportunity to show me their favorite movement. We will finish the class with some dance games and creative movement as we explore the ocean together. I can’t wait to dance ballet with your tiny dancer! **Your child can color in the attached printable coloring sheet before or after class.** // MUTING // I will mute your child when music is playing so there is no strange audio feedback. I may need to mute your learner at other times if there is any background noise. Your child can unmute themself to ask questions at the start and end of the class or during water breaks. Please be aware that they may need some help. They will have to accept the “unmute” on their screen. //ON SCREEN SAFETY// Only the registered learner is allowed to be on screen as per the Outschool safety policy. Caregivers, older/younger siblings and adults should try to stay off the screen as much as possible for the learners’ safety. If you need to help your child with the mute or unmute button, please try to stay off to the side. //SIBLINGS// Enrolled siblings are allowed to share a screen as long as they are both registered for the class in order to be fair to the other learners. //REFUNDS AND TRANSFERS// This class follows Outschool's limited refund policy: "Full refund within 24 hours of purchase or up to a week in advance of the class." If you need to transfer BEFORE the class starts, please send me a transfer request at least 24 hours before class and I will do my best to accommodate it. **I teach from Australia so please check the time carefully (AM OR PM) when signing up. I do not give refunds for missed classes.**

Dancers will learn age appropriate ballet fundamentals (1st and 2nd positions, plies, tendu and passe, leaps, gallops) while using their imaginations to explore under the sea. Dancers will improve their balance, flexibility, coordination and musicality.

Please provide a space that has enough space for your child to dance safely. Your dancer should wear comfortable clothing and have a water bottle nearby. Please mention any injuries prior to the class so I can modify the moves as needed.
Zoom muting/unmuting: I will mute students during dancing so everyone can hear the music and my voice. Your child can unmute themself to ask questions at the start and end of the class or during water breaks, so please be aware that they may need some help. They will have to accept the “unmute” on their screen.
