In this ongoing class, beginning readers will practice and review the alphabet and their sounds. We will also review skills and strategies that beginning readers should have, such as rhyming, syllables, and tracking words. We will also work on simple sight words and CVC words. Sample 4 week schedule: Wednesday, September 27th Review various letters and letter sounds. Learn sight words: the, a. Read Big by Cheryl Ryan and The Backyard, by Nora Voutas with these sight words. Practice reading...
- Students will learn to identify, read, and write simple sight words. Students will learn to point 1:1 while they read. Students will learn left to right directionality. Students will learn to write a basic sentence. Students will learn to manipulate letters and sounds to create new words. Students will learn to use meaning, structure, and visual cues when reading.
