This ongoing class is designed for learners that already know how to read CVC words (cat, run, bus, etc) and are looking for the next level of reading skills. This class focuses on consonant blends (bl, gr, sk) and digraphs (sh, th, ng). Instruction will focus on one blend or digraph each class. Learners will learn the sound first and then practice reading words using the sound. Learners will also learn sight words to help develop sentences. Each week, learners will be provided with a worksheet to practice writing the words. This sheet can be turned into a book to practice words at home. During class, we will play games to help reinforce the skills! We focus on a different consonant blend or digraph each week. The weeks contain stand alone lessons so learners can join at any time! Sample Week break down: Week of August 21: Long A CVCE Words Week of August 28: fl- blends Week of September 4: Long E CVCE Words Week of September 11: dr- words Week of September 18: Long I CVCE words Week of September 25: pr- words Week of October 2: Long O CVCE words Week of October 9: sw- words Week of October 16: Long U CVCE words Week of October 23: -ll words Week of October 30: ai words (part 1) Week of November 6: ai words (part 2) Week of November 13: -ft words Week of November 20: No classes Week of November 27: -th words Week of December 4: -pt words Week of December 11: -ld words This class is inclusive, so learners of all abilities are welcome to join! Outside of work, I am happily married and have two amazing kids (8 and 10) and a crazy dog! 🐾 We are a homeschool family (and enjoy taking advantage of the many classes that Outschool offers). I enjoy baking, designing on Procreate, crafting, and being outdoors with my family!
