每週 1 小時. Homework is musical practice and review of what we learned in my class. The more you play (practice), the better you get. To master the skill of vibrato, you must make time to practice it separately. I suggest to aim for at least 30 minutes of vibrato practice, either every day or every other day since it is MUSCLE MEMORY that builds the skill. With that in mind, please take stretch breaks to simply shake out the hands and shoulders every 10-15 minutes.我們無法翻譯此文,請刷新頁面並再試一次。

When you play a classical stringed instrument, such as the violin or viola, it is expected to the learn the technique of vibrato, around your third or fourth year of playing. The technique emulates a singer, and alters the pitch of every note we play, to make the instrument sound like it singing beautifully, and it helps to blend sound in a harmonious way with other instruments or vocalists. In every class, I will instruct the class on drills and practice exercises to develop the skills from scratch, or to improve the skills the student already has. There are two types of vibrato used for our instruments, wrist and arm vibrato, I will be teaching both, but I tend to favor arm vibrato. We will take turns in the class, practicing this skill over and over again, until the student feels confident with their new technique, and can take it into their symphony playing, or other musical endeavors students might find themselves in. Please have your instrument out of it's case, mostly tunes, shoulder rest on, and bow rosined BEFORE class. All sheet music or any exercises (which is also sheet music) needs to be printed and ready before class. I also suggest having a pencil and highlighter available as well. Students log in, and then we get to work, we always start with a quick tuning of instruments, just a check in essentially, and then I will answer students' questions. We will take turns listening to where the students are with this technique, and then talk about goals. Then we go over exercises I will provide that will need to be printed out by the parent, and that's it!

Hello, Music Parents and Students!
Please allow me to start with some things to consider before enrolling in one of my classes:
1.) My online classes are group classes in the structure of a camp, or as extra/additional lessons. They do not replace one on one tutoring lessons, either provided by me or another teacher entirely. This includes in person or online one on one lessons.
2.) The subjects I offer in my group classes are: violin, piano (keyboard), and music theory.
3.) Please patiently understand that there can be some technically difficulties that happen occasionally in these live lessons. If this happens, please review the recorded material so you don't miss out any information in my classes! Anyone who takes from one of my classes with have access to my educational content provided for future reference.
4.) Please only enroll if you seriously want extra educational enrichment in either the violin, piano or music theory for your student! I'm a great, experienced, fun and passionate teacher, but they aren't going to love it if they aren't interested in the challenges that music presents. This includes things like behavior, posture, and practice. Parent involvement is important in my classes and if you have any questions, at anytime, please contact me via Outschool.
Now, a little about me!
My story starts with learning how to play the violin at the age of 10 in my hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. My first teacher was Caroline Terranova, and I attended a small string music class at West End Middle School. During the end of my 5th grade year, I even created a petition called S.O.S (Save Our Strings) and was able to keep the strings class for another year. After my 6th grade, we relocated to Atlantic Beach in Jacksonville, Florida. I was finally able to audition for LaVilla Middle School of the Arts for 8th grade. This is where my switch to the beautiful instrument of the viola happened. I then proceeded to make my audition at Douglas Anderson High School of the Arts. I was thankfully able to attend all 4 years. My time there was extremely impactful for my life. I went on to attend both Stetson University and Belmont University for Music Performance for the viola. Throughout the years, I have volunteered for various programs schools, colleges, and universities. I started teaching violin at the age of 15. When I graduated high school I had 300 hours of community service teaching that I had collected over the summers. Since then I have dedicated my professional life to teaching and performing. I am 30 years old now, so that totals me out to 15 years of teaching experience and 20 years of musical performing experience!!
In addition, I have been a Community Member in the University of North Florida's Symphony Orchestra. I also have attended many great summer music festivals such as Belmont's Strings Crossings Camp, Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt's String Camp in Nashville, Tennessee. Along with those were summers spent at International Strings Music Festival in Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, North Carolina.
My performance gigs have included over 100 weddings and special events. This has ranged from mostly solo performances at art walks, dozens of restaurants, cocktail parties, memorial services, portrait unveilings, proposals, birthday parties, recording studio sessions, playing with bands, and bridal and baby showers. All of this has added to my overall experience as a musician. I am grateful for all of the opportunities I have had over the years.
My life's ambition is to continue to play, perform, and teach music professionally.
Musically yours,
Ms.Nickie
