Students will be taught the basics of how to use oil pastels. We will practice several techniques before we begin the final artwork. We will look at some photographs of flowers for reference of petal shapes. I will show the students how to draw a flower by guiding them step-by-step. Students are free to customize their art as much as they’d like. Students can ask questions as needed. I will check in on them throughout the class to see their progress. Students will try out the following oil pastels techniques: light pressure, hard pressure, blending, mixing, smearing, covering up, and drawing on top. Students will use these techniques to draw a large, colorful flower with oil pastels.
