Learners have fun with Rozine's curriculum which includes seasonal pop art, cartooning, and graphic design. During each session, students learn to turn the regular alphabet letters into block letters. Rozine guides students step-by-step, drawing each letter of the alphabet with pencil. She then shows students the basics to creating block letters. She then demonstrates how to layer letters behind one another. Drawing and coloring develops many talents, such as: • fine motor skills • spatial reasoning • objectivity • visualization • self-discipline • creative problem-solving
Since 2005, Rozine taught cartooning classes to elementary-aged, inner-city children in Chicago and Los Angeles. She is the illustrator, author, and publisher of several all-age coloring activity books. She creates a relaxing atmosphere, encouraging connection amongst others, as well as confident self-expression.
Students will need either a sketchpad, or a few sheets of drawing or printer paper. Pencils and erasers are a must. Coloring utensils can be crayons, colored pencils, and/or markers. A Sharpie marker is optional. Students can frame their artwork by stapling or taping it to a larger sheet of colored construction paper (also optional).
