Welcome to Waldorfunn, where I teach children reading and writing skills using a Waldorf-inspired philosophy. 

In this class, we will read fables and moral stories from around the world to learn spelling basics and expand our vocabulary. ( Please scroll down for the class syllabus) This class is perfect for native English speakers in the intermediate stage of writing and reading, ages 7 to 11. It is an excellent fit for children seeking to expand their English speaking and spelling knowledge in a foreign language, ages 9 to 14.

Becoming amazing at spelling can sometimes be difficult for children and even dull to learn. As parents, however, we know how crucial it is in our children's academic path.
This class is created for both children and parents to overcome spelling difficulties.

In this class, we will use storytelling's magic and drawing's benefits to make spelling and writing a fascinating academic activity. Every class, we will read a moral story to ignite literacy love and expand vocabulary. Profound stories engage the child's emotional sphere and deepen their understanding of the power and importance of words.
We will use these impactful words to learn spelling rules and letter patterns. We will master how to break words into syllables and understand each letter's character and behaviors within words. ( Please scroll down to see the class syllabus for specifications) 

We will create our fable book! One story at a time in each class.
We will also create beautiful art drawings filled with spelling rules.
We will become writing and spelling heroes.

All that in a simple, fulfilling, and joyful class!

At Waldorfunn, each class begins with a deep breath. We say aloud a verse to set ourselves up for a beautiful learning experience. Similarly, each class ends with a share-and-tell from each student of their work and a moment of gratitude. We also do a closing verse as a farewell goodbye.

Review of the magic E spell
What is a syllable? The beats in words. Ensuring each syllable has at least one vowel. 

Week of September 8
The long A sound ( ae, ai, ay eigh ...)

Week of September 15
More on the long A sound and the relation to the beats/syllables in a word. 
Vowel team rule, end of syllable rule, ending syllable long A rule, and more.

Week Of September 22
The long E sound ( ea, ee, ey ... )
The "i" before "e" Except after "c": ie and cei

Week of October 6

Week of October 13
The long I sound ( ie, y, igh, i follow by two consonants ...)
I followed by two consonants.
 Final silent E is also used to prevent words from ending with a I

The long O sound ( oe, oa, ow, oo, ou, ough ...)
O followed by two consonants.

The long U sound ( ue, ew, ue ...)
Final silent E is also used to prevent words from ending with a U or V.

The letter Y is a consonant and a vowel.
Word ending with the letter Y that sounds like I

Week of December 1
Ending words with ss, ff, ll, and zz are caused by single-syllable words.

Doubling consonant rule to preserve the short sound of a vowel. (Diner, dinner)
Using the letter D in front of G. ( judge, porridge ...)

Quality color crayons.
A4 paper blank notebook.
These items will give the child a joyful drawing experience and will allow them to collect their work nicely.

I am deeply invested in anthroposophy, and I acquired the foundational knowledge and the practical art skills of Waldorf Education. 

Mathematics is my passion, and I specialize in  Classical Greek geometry and arithmetic.
I crafted my math classes to trigger the genius in each student.

I speak four languages fluently.
I also teach reading and spelling classes at the elementary level because I believe in the power of classical literature. I crafted these classes for children to fall in love with writing with perfect spelling.

Like in Math, if a class is meaningful and emotionally captivating, "Difficult" academics become satisfying!
I strive to create those "AHH" moments in children...they are the delights of academic work!

The purpose of my educational classes is to inspire students.
I know how important this is for children and their future academic life.

I have a Canadian Advanced Degree in the Natural Science of Silviculture and Forest Management.
I have taught Waldorf-inspired curriculum for my four delightful daughters for over five years.
