This class will be one-on-one and entirely personalized, so the material taught will depend on the strengths of the student. In the first week, your student will take a short exam that will allow me to determine where your student excels and where they have room to grow. We will focus on answering questions from a short article or story, as they would on an exam. We will also practice grammar/vocabulary questions from past exams. Additionally, we will work on skills like understanding rhetoric and argument mapping. It is important that your student not only understands what the correct answer is but also why an answer is correct. From there, we will focus on developing the skills they need to excel during their exams. Practice questions will initially be practiced as slowly as your student needs but we will also work with a timer to make sure they feel confident going into their exam. My teaching style is strengths-based, so it is important for me to find out early what your student excels at, so we can reinforce those talents. My target audience with this class is high school students who are preparing for their SAT or ACT, whether that exam be next year or next month.
