For historical topics, I refer to government institutes, museums and other educational organizations in Korea. We will not visit these websites during class, but I will provide a general historical overview from these sources. I have visited these museums in person as well and taken university classes in Korean history. As a reminder, this is not solely a history class. I do not go into advanced depth into history, and will just give a general overview.

Hello Parents and Students!
It's nice to meet you. My name is Maya and thank you for your interest in my class. From 2021-2023 I was lucky enough to have lived in Korea for 2.5 years, during which I fully immersed myself in the language and culture through work, Korean language study, and daily life. Navigating relationships with Korean coworkers, and bosses, living with Korean roommates, and experiencing daily life up close provided me with invaluable insights into Korean life.
Moreover, I had the privilege of working with North Korean defectors, teaching them English to help them integrate into South Korean society. Additionally, I worked at a public elementary school in Korea on a government-sponsored scholarship, gaining valuable experience in the Korean education system.
With this diverse background, I am excited to share my knowledge and passion for Korean language and culture with my students, offering them an authentic and immersive learning experience.
