課堂經歷
Each week we read age-appropriate books related to topics. We'll take silly breaks have a short discussion at the end of each book. Kids are invited to bring a special stuffed friend, toy, etc and will have the opportunity to introduce them to the group. Late comers are welcome, but may miss part, or all, of a book. Week of 3/24: Nature Books: Spring Planting by Rita Kohn, Gabby's Special Day by Sarah Woodard, and (if time permits) Mouse's First Spring by Lauren Thompson. Week of 3/31: Pollinators Books: The Thing About Bees by Shabazz Larkin, The Little Lost Bee by Sarah Woodard, and (if time permits) The Mighty Pollinators by Helen Frost Week of 4/7: Pets Books: TBD Please check back soon Week of 4/14: LGBTQ+ Books: TBD Please check back soon

As guardians of young minds, I respect your right to decide a particular topic or book is not right for them. However, I believe censorship does not foster inclusion and belonging. I'm also proud to live in a state that prohibits book bans. As such, I will not be censoring the books I choose and encourage you to look at the topic and books for each session prior to signing up your young learners if this is a concern for you.

I trained as a special ed teacher in college and quickly realized that the way public schools handle learners with needs beyond what's offered in the standard curriculum wasn't aligned with creating a sense of belonging. In search of way to create a sense of belonging for kids who truly need it, like those labeled as having special needs, I spent time teaching martial arts. I found this model to be too rigid. Both I and the learners I most wanted to reach needed more creativity - more room to discover themselves. I began writing and publishing children's books - though I call them timeless tales as they have meaning for adults as well. Several of my 74 titles have been award prizes for their contribution to the field of children's literature, and I've led similar story time groups during book events.評論
