This is an introductory course specially created for PreK, Kindergarten and 1st grade students. The subject matter will be adapted to suit their educational and developmental level. Students will learn through a variety of approaches, such as read aloud stories, informative slides and graphics, drawing, building and sculpting, movement activities, video clips, games, discussion, repetition and more. Students will learn about a variety of space-related topics--the solar system, stars, the...
Students will learn about the planets in our solar system. Students will learn about what stars are, and the history and meaning of constellations. Students will be able to identify phases of the moon and the surface of mars, and will observe and recreate them in hands-on activities. Students will learn about the ways we are able to explore and observe space. Students will learn new vocabulary words related to the topic as well as interesting new facts.
I'm so excited to share my love of space and space exploration with you! I've been teaching STEAM topics like animals to preschool through middle school for 8 years through an independent STEAM education company, and I'm really looking forward to connecting with new students here on Outschool. Not only will we be learning about the moon, stars and planets--but we'll sneak in some colors, numbers and math, comparing and contrasting, observation, movement and more--all things that preK, kindergartners and 1st graders love to learn and practice!

Homework will be assigned on a weekly basis, but will be optional. Assignments will be used as a way to reinforce lesson material and to allow students to explore the topics in greater detail based on their own interests. Research, drawing, and fact-finding will be incorporated into these assignments, which will be shared and discussed at the beginning of the next class.0 - 1 每週課外時間

Students should provide their own paper, pencil, colored pencils or crayons (optional), playdough or sculpting clay, building blocks such as lego-style bricks, duplos, bristle blocks, or wooden blocks. Some additional materials may be used for the optional homework assignments, but they will be simple, easily found, household items (and are not required). I am always happy to help families find an alternative material that can be adapted to use in class if any of these items are not available.
