In this ongoing club, students will work on strengthening their writing skills with collaborative discussion, class diary entries focused on paragraph forms, and individual writing time, creating their own diary in the style of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney. Everyone is welcome to bring their favorite copies of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" to class to generate ideas to draw and brainstorm. Each session will begin with students collaboratively sharing the events of their day and choosing...
Students will improve their paragraph writing through examples in the class diary. Students will transfer examples in reading to original ideas for their own writing. Students will gain more advanced vocabulary by exploring adjectives during class discussions. Students will have their own copy of a diary like "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." Students will practice simple doodles and drawings. Students will learn to record daily events in a journal.
