課堂經歷

Have you ever wondered what classes are out there to help you become fluent in Japanese? I know I have. Well, I have designed this five-part beginner class (and more classes to come) to help you on your journey to becoming fluent. This class will not only help you learn grammar and vocabulary efficiently and effectively but will also help you learn about the culture and the people as well.

I will put you in real-life situations where you will be encouraged to use Japanese to successfully communicate with others.

After this lesson, students will be able to

Week 1:

1. Learn the Kanji for Capital, Child, Small, To Meet, Company, Father and Mother
-They will learn the combination of different Kanji can make words like (east and capital make tokyo) and (small and school make elementary school)

Week 2:

1. Learn the Kanji for High, School, Every, Word, Sentence, To return, and To Enter
-They will learn the combination of different Kanji can make words like (Every and day make every day) and (Japan and Language makes the Japanese Language).

Week 3:

1. Learn about the short forms of verbs (for the past 6 classes we have learned how to make the polite ways of verbs, but now we will learn the informal or short form of verbs)
-Learn about the informal Godan verbs
-Learn about the informal Ichidan verbs

Week 4:

1. Learn the reason why Japanese use the informal (short form) of a Japanese verb and how to form the specifics
    -In represented or quoted speech
-In casual conversations, as a form of intimacy
    -In Making Negative Requests
-In expressing ideas like "I like doing... or I am good at...
2. Request someone not to do something
    -Please do not take pictures

Week 5:
1. Describe how you like or dislike doing something (I like studying Japanese, I hate cleaning my room)
2. Learn the meaning of ga and where it goes in a sentences (it is used to put focus on the noun and not the object)

You will definitely enjoy this class. We will play in class games, provide visual aids to help guide discussion, group discussion and real life situations to solidify what to say in certain situations. Some examples of real life situations would be what would you say if someone stepped on your foot, if someone saw your messy room how would you explain it?

I want you to feel comfortable and engaged while learning.

There is a pre-requisite. You will either need to know how to read, write and speak Hiragana and Katakana before this class or take Hiragana and Katakana classes simultaneously. You will also need to have taken Road to Fluency Beginner Class 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 or know all the material in this class.

Please bring an open mind and be ready to learn.

Please note: "All material will be presented via PowerPoint and screen shared by the teacher. The games will also be screen shared by the teacher. Learners will not click links, access outsides websites, or need to login to any accounts."

I received my undergraduate degree in the Japanese language, culture, and history. I also earned my Master's degree in K-12 education. I studied abroad at Nihon University in Tokyo as well as worked as an English teacher in Niigata, Japan. I was able to see what I learned firsthand.
