Being intelligent is not the same as being smart. Being smart requires more than intelligence. Being smart involves being practical and having common sense, too.  Being intelligent may be knowing a lot of facts that will help to answer homework questions, but being smart is remembering to take home the books you need to do the homework and then to hand it in on time. Being smart is knowing what to study for that exam efficiently. Being smart is figuring out how to complete a long assignment within a reasonable amount of time and doing a good job on it.

There is no big mystery to academic achievement:

Skills + Effort = Achievement

Students get smarter by developing a study skills system designed to teach them how to function more efficiently  in school and life given the demands on their time, efforts and activities. The step-by-step activities, tips, tricks and exercises students will learn during this program will walk them through:

Please consider this as you enroll in this class; as I do my best to customize each of my classes based on the enrolled participants, it would be a great benefit to know what things you have tried in the past that have not worked for you to the degree you want them to. Upon enrolling, please share with me and know that the more specific you are, the more I am able to customize this class section to meet your needs and learning styles.

Learner Time:	
(8) 60-minute class sessions  
1 session per week for 8 weeks
Parent in-put/participation is strongly encouraged but not required

We will not Be following a rigid syllabus because I will not know what students need until we meet for the first class session...the following is an outline of the eight weeks for this class. Due to the nature of students' needs, I will customize the syllabus as I see necessary according to the enrolled students.

Class #6     Improve Your Listening Skills and Get Better Organized
Class #7     Memory Tricks & Note Taking Strategies of Elon Musk & Other Highly Successful People     
Class #8     Wrap-up and specialized suggestions/activities for individual students

Please note: The first two class sessions will focus on nutrition and dietary habits as they build the foundations to the brain's ability to function. If a child is not aware of the C.R.A.P. they are putting into their body, they will not be aware of the many reasons they are struggling with focus, attention, study skills, organization, information retention and so many other things; both academic and everyday activities.
