The class is intended for students with no prior music training and students with less than a year of music lessons. This class begins with an introduction to the cello, and the beginning steps of reading music.

The students will learn the parts of the cello, and how the instrument makes sound. We will approach the basic cello technique, such as cello bow hold, posture, hand position, direction changes of bow, string crossings, finger logic, and we will explore some rhythm exercises using essential listening skills.

Finally, the teacher will play musical examples, and provide visual material.
