課堂經歷

7 lessons//7 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
While loops
Another type of flow-control, the while loop allows your program to repeat a chunk of code or action.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
For Loops, Do-While loops
After seeing what While Loops can do for us, we dive into several other looping structures like the for loop and the do-while loop. We compare the different types of loops and apply them to creating some fun games.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Random Numbers
Most programming languages provide a way to generate random numbers, which come in handy when writing games or anything modeling things that happen in nature. In this lesson we will see how Java generates random numbers and end up writing a fun number guessing game.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Methods
Methods (user defined functions) allow the programmer to package code in a reusable and efficient manner. If you find yourself using a similar chunk of code multiple times throughout your program, methods are the way to go!
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Arrays
We need to be able to store lists of values in an efficient way. Arrays allow us to store larger amounts of data as well as process or work with the data.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Arrays, Part 2 - Searching and stuff
Now that we're rocking the array, let's see what we can do with them. Search, sort, reverse, find max... and so much more!
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Arrays and Functions
Let's combine the idea of user-defined functions from a few lessons back with arrays and see how they can work well together. We also introduce an interesting programming topic - searching.
I have a degree in computer science and have been teaching all levels of programming and software engineering at the college level for 20 years and have worked in the industry for the same amount of time. This particular course (Introduction to Programming) has always been my favorite to teach. My goal is to give the students an experience that will prepare them to be successful in a Computer Science based college program.

I love programming because there are multiple ways to solve a problem. Computers only do what you tell them to do - whether you realize you're telling them to do something or not!
Students will be provided with weekly PowerPoint decks that will contain all the information they need.

I love to teach! I love the look on a student's face when they "get it" or when they realize how much they love (or are allowed to enjoy) what they are learning!

I have been teaching Mathematics, Computer Science (programming) and Theatre...
