Your student deserves a comprehensive introduction to economics, blending microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts in a professional and engaging online classroom environment. In this course, students will explore the foundational principles that govern individual, business, and societal decision-making, all while analyzing the forces shaping national and global economies today.

ESA note: This class is structured to accept ESA funds for many participating states and families. Credentials available as needed upon request.

Economics is at the core of nearly every aspect of life—from personal financial decisions to the dynamics of global trade and government policy. Yet, it can feel intimidating or overly abstract for students encountering these concepts for the first time. This course makes economics accessible, engaging, and relevant to teens by breaking down the key ideas in a structured, traditional classroom format with the flexibility of online learning.

This course is designed for homeschool students and independent learners who are ready to build a solid understanding of how economies function at both the individual and systemic levels. Through real-world examples, interactive activities, and discussions of current events, students will gain insight into how economic principles shape the world around them and how they can use these concepts in their own lives. 🏛️💰

👩‍🏫 How will class be taught?

Class will be taught using a combination of live lectures, visual aids, discussions, and guided activities. Lessons are designed to build understanding step by step, with real-world applications to bring abstract theories to life. Short videos and interactive exercises are included to support diverse learning styles. Mr. Scott’s teaching style has been described as “focused, intense, and engaging,” ensuring students stay motivated and inspired throughout the course.

Class sessions will emphasize unpacking complex ideas through active discussion and hands-on demonstration. Students will leave each class with clear takeaways and a deeper understanding of how economics applies to their daily lives and future ambitions.

🎓 Student Expectations We expect our students to embody core values such as accountability, critical thinking, and curiosity. Active participation is encouraged, and assignments should be completed on time for full feedback opportunities.

Historical Approach to Economic Contexts This course emphasizes the historical and societal factors influencing economic systems, avoiding deterministic explanations in favor of nuanced analysis. Students will explore how ideas, policies, and individual actions have shaped economic outcomes, fostering a well-rounded understanding of both past and present economic challenges.

Ready to empower your student with the tools to navigate and understand the economy?
