Students will be taught the basic foot and arm positions, dance movements, and they will learn steps out of the Highland Fling-the first dance that beginner dancers compete in. I have a positive teaching style-as all research shows that positive feedback and encouragement motivate dancers more than the “old school” model. Students should wear a white sock on their right foot, and a colored sock on their left foot. They will need an open space to dance, with a flat, even floor to dance on- Approximately 6 feet by 6 feet. They should have a water bottle-as Scottish Highland Dance is very athletic. We will make sure to have a proper warm up and cool down.
