IEW Fix-It Grammar: Level 1 Nose Tree Syllabus

Course Description:
This course is designed for students with no prior grammar knowledge. It introduces basic parts of speech, end-mark punctuation, phrases, clauses, homophones, and more. Using the book "Fix-It Grammar: Level 1 Nose Tree," students will learn to identify and correct grammatical errors in daily passages.

Notebook or lined paper

Course Structure:
Each week in class, students will:

Learn It!: On the first day of the week, read through the Learn It section. Each Learn It covers a concept that will be practiced in future passages. Instructions for marking and fixing passages are included in each Learn It.
Read It!: Read the day’s passage. Review the bolded vocabulary words each week. Students are encouraged to maintain a list of vocabulary words and their definitions.
Mark It!: Mark the passage using the guide at the top of the daily practice page.
Fix It!: Correct the passage using the guide at the top of the daily practice page.
We will mark and fix as many passages as we have time for in class each week. Occasionally, there may be 1-2 passages left to complete for homework.

Homework:

Rewrite It!: After marking, correcting, and discussing the passage in class, copy the corrected passage on the lines provided or into a separate notebook.
Copy the corrected story, not the editing marks.
Indent and use capital letters properly.
Copy the corrected punctuation.
