In this group class, students will strengthen their understanding of key IB Business Management (HL/SL) topics and prepare for success in their assessments. The following topics will be covered, aligned with the IB syllabus: Business Organization and Environment: Understanding business structures, objectives, and the impact of external factors. Human Resource Management: Exploring leadership, organizational culture, and workforce planning. Finance and Accounts: Mastering financial statements, budgeting, and investment appraisal techniques. Marketing: Analyzing market research, marketing strategies, and product positioning. Operations Management: Examining production methods, quality management, and supply chain efficiency. Strategic Management: Applying SWOT analysis, decision-making models, and evaluating business strategies. Through interactive lessons, group discussions, and practical case studies, students will develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while gaining confidence in applying business theories to real-world scenarios. Additionally, the class will focus on preparing for both Internal and External Assessments, including exam techniques and case study analysis. Week of February 7, 2025: Human Resource Management: Leadership and Motivation Exploring leadership styles, motivation theories, and workforce planning. Week of February 14, 2025: Human Resource Management: Organizational Culture Examining the impact of organizational culture on employee performance and business success. Week of February 21, 2025: Finance and Accounts: Financial Statements Understanding income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Week of February 28, 2025: Finance and Accounts: Budgeting and Ratios Learning how to create budgets and analyze financial ratios for decision-making. Week of March 7, 2025: Marketing: Market Research Techniques for gathering and analyzing market data to inform business strategies. Week of March 14, 2025: Marketing: Marketing Mix Exploring the 4 Ps (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) and their impact on business success. Week of March 21, 2025: Operations Management: Production Methods Understanding production processes, lean production, and economies of scale. Week of March 28, 2025: Operations Management: Quality Control and Supply Chains Managing quality, improving efficiency, and optimizing supply chain processes. Week of April 4, 2025: Case Study Analysis Applying business concepts to real-world scenarios and preparing for assessments. Week of April 11, 2025: Strategic Management: Decision-Making Models Using tools like SWOT, Ansoff’s Matrix, and decision trees to analyze business strategies. Week of April 18, 2025: Strategic Management: Change and Risk Management Evaluating strategies for managing business change and mitigating risks. Week of April 25, 2025: Internal Assessment (IA) Guidance: Research and Structure Developing research skills, organizing ideas, and structuring the IA effectively. Week of May 2, 2025: Internal Assessment (IA) Guidance: Evaluation and Analysis Applying critical thinking to evaluate business scenarios and justify recommendations. Week of May 9, 2025: External Assessment Preparation: Paper 1 Strategies for answering structured questions, including time management and formatting. Week of May 16, 2025: External Assessment Preparation: Paper 2 Case study analysis and crafting high-quality essay responses. Week of May 23, 2025: Review and Recap Revisiting key topics, addressing challenges, and reinforcing critical concepts. Week of May 30, 2025: Mock Exam Practice and Feedback Completing mock questions, reviewing answers, and receiving feedback to boost exam performance. This collaborative environment will help learners build skills, confidence, and connections as they progress in their IB Business Management journey.
