This is a social club/group based around drawing. We will meet every week to draw and talk. What will we draw? What will we say? I will provide a weekly drawing prompt, but what the students decide to draw will be their decision. This is not an instructional class, but a social group for children who enjoy drawing. While drawing students can talk about their drawings, favorite artists, favorite animals, what video games they like, what books they like, there is no end to the possible discussions. The focus of this class is to socialize with a group of friends, some contributions that students have made in the past is to create and present a news show, sharing jokes from joke books, sharing pets, or even designs from a building created in a game. This class is very flexible and open. Each week we will have a different art theme. Some past themes have included mix and match, things that fly, and space. Some weeks the students take turns picking the theme! Here are our upcoming topics if you want to plan ahead. Feel free to not only share art, but fun facts and interests, too! 09/09/2024 Abstract 09/16/2024 Hats 09/23/2024 Checker Pattern 09/30/2024 Balloons 10/07/2024 Make it a Party 10/14/2024 Add some words 10/21/2024 Sloth 10/28/2024 Candy Corn No previous drawing knowledge is needed. Artists can create using materials of their choice (drawing pencils, colored pencils, pastels, digitally, etc). This is a social group, interaction will be constant. The children will do most of the talking, but I will help get conversations started and guide them in conversation and drawing.

I teach art and ballet classes. My background includes Bachelor Degrees in Art Studio and Accounting, as well as Advanced teaching certification in the Cecchetti Method of ballet through the Cecchetti Council of America. My official accreditation with the CCA if Fellow of the Cecchetti Council of America (FCCA)
I have taught, and continue to teach, ballet at National Ballet Institute for the Arts since 1996. At NBIA I have taught children as young as 3 all the way through adults. I have presented both children and teacher's for their Cecchetti ballet certifications. While teaching at NBIA I have guest taught at many studios throughout Maryland and Virginia and continue to teach at the local community center one day a week.
At National Ballet Institute for the Arts my studies included ballet, modern dance, Ukranian dance, Scottish Highland dance, and other forms of character dance. My performance experience includes The Nutcracker, Giselle, Coppelia, The Tales of Beatrix Potter and more!
Additionally, I have been a professional artist since 1999, selling art locally and online. This has led to multiple teaching and exhibition opportunities. Teaching experience has included after school arts programs at the local elementary school, art programs at The Creative and Performing Arts of South County, and independent pop up classes.
Currently, I am LOVING teaching my students on Outschool!
Off of Outschool I am a founding member of The Creative and Performing Arts of South County, an arts center in Maryland and a board member of the Cecchetti Institute (a historical institute for preserving the work of Enrico Cecchetti). I am also a homeschooling mom, finishing up our 9th year!
I believe that learning is fun, the more you learn the more exciting life becomes!
