課堂經歷
Curriculum: These are drawing lessons with a scientific flare. In the beginning of the lesson, students will learn about the animal (or occasionally plant) subject of the day! We'll learn some animal facts and have a live drawing lesson. In addition to being an artist, I'm a very big animal nerd and have worked as a wildlife docent. This is definitely a passion project of mine. I'll send photo references for drawing prior to the lesson and provide step-by-step instructions on drawing each animal. Each class will be welcoming and beginner friendly, but there will also be opportunities for advanced students to challenge themselves. I will encourage students to add more details - how can we draw fur without just making a messy clump of lines? How can we show where the light hits the subject matter, or where the darkest shadows are? How can we show that an axolotl looks wet and glossy, vs a fox who has light soft fluffy fur? Teaching Style: I love engaging with kids as much as possible, and encourage them to ask or answer questions throughout the lesson. Class discussion is especially encouraged during the drawing portion of the lesson, as there tends to be some space for them to talk and ask questions while we're working on our artwork. I also encourage students to show their artwork periodically, even if they’re still working on it. It’s fine if they’re still adding detail by the end of class and would like to add the finishing touches on their own time afterward. My goal is the balance challenging my students and creating a fun and inspiring space for them to unleash their creativity. I hope to help them see their own potential. Students will also have plenty of opportunities to interact with each other. They may chat during drawing time or offer constructive and supportive comments on each other's artwork. Generally my classes are structured more as an involved discussion than a lecture. Weekly Schedule 5 min - Round of Introductions & Ice Breaker 10 min - Drawing techniques & pictures of the animal 35 min - Step by step drawing instruction and live demo. 學習目標
Students will learn introductory sketching and inking drawing techniques. Each week we will practice breaking down forms into simple shapes, then developing sketches into finished products. Each weekly animal subject will have different forms, textures, expressions, etc. It's our weekly goal to capture the animal subject in a compelling art piece. We'll learn different techniques for creating volume, texture, and shading. Through practice, repetition, and skill development we should see improvements over time, so keep your early pieces so you can look back at them later!
