課堂經歷
Our first session will focus on the basic story elements: characters, setting, problem and solution, and how to determine them. We'll start with a well-known story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and in the following classes we will read and discuss a new Eric Carle book. The story will be read aloud, however if you have the book at home you are welcome to follow along! Students will participate in group discussion to determine the characters, setting, problem and solution presented in each story. We'll also determine how the stories are organized. Together we will create a matrix to keep track of the elements of each story and to help us to compare and contrast the stories at the end. Our final class will include creating a double bubble map to compare and contrast two stories, and some writing, as well as an invitation to create their own Eric Carle-esque character or full story. This is appropriate for advanced Kindergarteners and First grade learners. You can take this class consecutively in one week or choose the once a week option.

教師專業知識和證書
Eric Carle is a beloved children's author with engaging stories and creative illustrations. I have taught this in my own first grade classroom and it is always a hit with the students, as well as deepens their understanding of story elements and their ability to compare and contrast stories.
