This class will be covering the first twelve chapters of Howard Zinn's A Young People's History of the United States. Being a FLEX class, it is primarily for the student who plans to read the text and needs a little guidance for understanding, a source to ask questions when needed, and prefers to discuss larger ideas online with peers. Each week a list of comprehension questions will be posted. These questions will serve as a guide and the basis of our online conversations. Also shared will...
Students will learn to view history from multiple perspectives. They will also learn to think critically about the stories that have been told, who tells them, and if there may be another side to the stories. Students will be encouraged to question and look towards primary sources to answer such questions.
I am a licensed k-12 teacher. I have taught Civics for a number of years within the public school system. I have taught this same text for the last year within two home school communities.
